These tests are as follows;

Karyotype analysis of the prospective parents, i.e. chromosome tests in the blood.

Ultrasonography, uterine X-ray (HSG) and, if necessary, hysteroscopy to detect problems with the uterus.

Blood tests for antiphospholipid antibodies (lupus anticoagulant, anticardiolipin antibodies) to detect immunologic (immune-related) causes.

Thyroid tests, fasting blood glucose or sugar loading test.

Investigation of certain factors in the woman’s blood (Antithrombin III, protein C, protein S, homocysteine, factor V Leiden mutation) to detect thrombophilia (predisposition to clotting).

Vaginal culture for infections.

Genetic factors

Age

What are the Symptoms of Miscarriage?

The most common symptom of miscarriage is vaginal bleeding. The bleeding may appear as a spot and may increase and become clot-like, and cramp-like pain is also seen in addition to bleeding. Ultrasound examination is performed to diagnose miscarriage. The bleeding may increase and the fetus may be expelled completely, and in such cases, if the ultrasound does not show any remaining tissue in the womb and the bleeding is not excessive, abortion may not be performed. However, sometimes part of the fetus is expelled and in these cases, the remaining tissue in the uterus must be removed by abortion.

Tests for Recurrent Miscarriage

Couples who experience recurrent pregnancy losses first undergo blood tests to check for possible side effects. Side effects seen in blood tests include blood clotting disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome and high levels of certain antibodies that affect blood flow to the placenta or cause the placenta to attach abnormally to the uterus.

The uterus should be examined along with blood tests. An abnormal shape of the uterus can cause miscarriage and premature birth. If an abnormality is detected in the uterus, a surgical operation may be necessary.

Recurrent Miscarriages and IVF Treatment

Up to 5% of couples who want to become parents cannot become parents due to recurrent miscarriages. With IVF treatment, positive results can be obtained in pregnancies resulting in miscarriage due to genetics. In patients with recurrent miscarriages, methods in classical IVF treatment are applied. Genetically healthy embryos are selected by performing PGD test (preimplantation genetic screening) on multiple embryos collected. Thus, the possibility of a healthy pregnancy increases.
Recurrent miscarriages can develop due to different reasons. The correct diagnosis has a significant impact on the positive outcome of the treatment. After the correct diagnosis, successful pregnancies can be achieved with a personalized treatment plan.

Recurrent Miscarriages Pregnancy loss before the 20th week of pregnancy is called “miscarriage”.
